Recent Reports of Violent Crimes against Unhoused People in New Mexico (2022-2024)

February 2022: Unhoused veteran dies as a result of being beaten.

March 2022: 3 Teenagers beat unhoused man outside a Denny's

March 2023: 9 Teenagers beat unhoused man with a pole

June 2023: MSD officer beats woman with a baton outside Alvarado train station.

December 2023: Man hits 2 unhoused people with his truck and flees

July 2024: Pharmacy security guard beats unhoused man and then shoots the man's dog.

July 2024: Same man punches a different unhoused man, even though he no longer was working as a security guard.

July 2024: Unhoused woman shot with BB gun from a moving vehicle.

August 2024: Man arrested for 4 kidnapping charges, multiple robberies, and an aggravated sexual assault which resulted in the death of the victim. He also was charges with another counts of murder, as well. All attacks were against unhoused native men in the last 3 years 2022-2024.

December 2023: Unhoused man was chained to a vehicle and dragged around a gas station parking lot where he had been sleeping.
